In 2022, more than one fifth of the EU population, specifically 21.1%, was aged 65 and over. This represents a significant portion of the population and is indicative of the ongoing demographic trend towards an older population in the EU.
Europe’s workforce is aging: by 2030, workers aged 55–64 are expected to make up 30% or more of the total workforce in many countries. The official retirement age is increasing in many Member States and, thus, many workers are likely to face both longer working lives and longer exposure to a changing world of work.
To tackle this situation certain measures have to be taken on European level, but also on personal level by all Europeans.
Our initiatives are dedicated to advancing the understanding of age management across the European Union. We invite you to draw inspiration from compelling narratives shared on this page by school principals, administrative officials, and corporate leaders. These professionals have embraced age-related challenges within their organizations and ultimately recognizing and adopting age management practices. Their experiences demonstrate the positive impact these practices have on both employee welfare and societal well-being.
